The Yorkshire Guild of Sommeliers

Dear Members

Yorkshire Guild of Sommeliers Annual Black Tie Dinner Dance

Saturday 30th November 2019  7.00pm - 12.00am

The Washingborough Hall Hotel, Church Hill, Washingborough, Lincoln LN4 1BE

It is with great pleasure that I invite you all to our annual Black Tie Dinner Dance in November at a delightful venue that was recently voted Britain’s “Best Loved Hotel”. This promises to be a delightful evening with great friends, flowing wine and delicious food.  It is also the occasion when our President, Deidre Buchanan, presents The Ken Buchanan Tantalus Award to a well deserving member of The Guild.

I am delighted to say that James Long late of Corney & Barrow will be presenting the wines for our dinner.

There will be music from The Blighty Belles, including war time favourites for “Bomber County”

As usual we will have a Champagne Reception with Canapés before the meal.  Members will be able to try white wine with their starters and a stunning red wine with their main course.  Dessert wine will be served.  There will also be a mystery wine competition with the cheese, a prize for the winner.  As well as all of this will be a free raffle, which will be drawn at the end of the meal, prizes from the YGOS Sections.

Washingborough Hall has limited accommodation, which is unfortunately fully booked at the present time. Lincoln is a major tourist city (not as busy or expensive as York, but still gets very quickly booked-up).  There are many hotels nearby and I suggest you search with visitlincoln.com, booking.com or even with Air B&B.  Some listed below:-

There is a lot to see around Lincoln apart from our wonderful Cathedral and Castle, there is Doddington Hall, one of the finest Elizabethan Houses in the country. The Bomber Command Memorial stands just over a mile from Washingborough Hall (conducted tour to be arranged for Sunday morning) and if you would like to arrive on Friday at lunch time I can arrange a visit to the nearby Beeswax Farm, which is a state of the art unit belonging to Sir James Dyson.

The nearest hotel option is:-

Premier Inn                             0871 527 8604 Canwick Road, Canwick Hill, Canwick, Lincoln LN4 2RF

In the city a large choice including:-
